Another Newbie

#1 Post by tworoosters » Thu Aug 21, 2014 1:48 pm

Hi All-

Been lurking around here for a few months trying to decide what boat I wanted. A deal came up locally that I couldn't pass up, an '89 Party Barge. I will be overhauling the whole boat this winter and I'm sure will have lots of questions for all the experts here.

I know there aren't any pics, but I'm trying to figure this whole forum thing out and I'm at work anyway.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Actually two hens, one being my little girl that's 8 weeks old. I'll have the boat out this weekend so I'll grab some pics.

Here's my first attempt at posting pics, this is how it was when I picked it up. Not in terrible shape, fencing is dinged on the front corner and needs a new deck. The plan is to put it in my buddy's shop this winter and redo the deck, furniture and a bunch of little stuff. Also planning on moving the transom back to create a swim deck. I'm torn on the idea of adding a third log, not sure if I want to put the money into this boat. I will be looking for a bigger motor, probably around 90hp.

Don't think you will achieve anything but buoyancy with third log right now. With a larger motor and lifting strakes you will get more speed. You can always add a third log later without disturbing the new deck it will go under and bolt up at a later date.

I'm thinking I'll move transom back for now and redo the deck and interior. If I come across a larger motor that may be the catalyst for the third log. If not I may trade up in a few years, who knows.
