You talked me into it, bought a new battery for it. I'm not fond of paddling. Thanks for the advise.wwind3 wrote:Welcome to the forum ! Be careful running everything off one battery---esp an older one. May not have enough to crank an engine after a long day of partying. Carry jumper cables just in case and don't let boats touch when you jump your battery.

Thanks. Mostly W. Kerr Scott Resevoir. Plan to visit Lake Hickory and we'll take it slow for a while. Wife loves Fontana Lake but that is a long way from home. How is the fishing around Fontana?trucky wrote:I would say someone got their moneys worth out of that battery. I would seriously consider replacing it before trusting it to start out in the middle of some lake with a storm rolling in. A second battery, as already suggested is a great idea, gives added safety and lets you run accessories without worrying about depleting your cranking battery.summersled wrote: The date stamp on the Interstate deep-cycle battery is June 2003, it’s held a charge now for 20 days.
What lakes do you frequent? My work home is near Asheville, NC and I've hit most of the local lakes over time...

Fontana is ok. Go another half hour near Robbinsville and you have Lake Santeetlah, one of the few that don't draw down over the winter. Jump over the hill into Tennessee and you have Watauga, South Holston and Boone lakes all near Bristol and Johnson City. They pulled a 58 inch striper out of Boone not too long ago.summersled wrote:Thanks. Mostly W. Kerr Scott Resevoir. Plan to visit Lake Hickory and we'll take it slow for a while.
