New pontoon boat owner

#1 Post by firedog » Fri Jan 30, 2015 1:56 pm

I am glad I found this forum dedicated to Pontoons. I just purchased my first one and like that there is a place to get new ideas and useful information. I use to belong to one for my runabout but that forum went away. Getting excited about warmer weather that is coming someday to see if the one I bought floats!!!! I understand that everyone likes to see pictures so will post some as soon as I can. I picked up a 24' Sweetwater, 2004, with a 115 Yamaha 4-stroke. It has been well taken care of and hopefully it does all the things we want it to. Thanks again !

Welcome to the forum. This is a great place to find dedicated people well versed in pontoon boats.

Since your boat is used, do you know if the lower unit grease has been recently changed? Has the water pump impeller has recently been changed? And have the bearings on your trailer been cleaned and repacked?

After all, you don't want any surprises.

Thanks Everyone, boat trailer is brand new so should be good with axle bearings. I will change lower unit oil and engine oil & filter before hitting the water. I plan on changing the impeller on my merc-cruiser this spring so will do it on the Yamaha also. Looking forward to a FUN summer !
