First time boat owner

#1 Post by ericricherson » Mon Feb 16, 2015 3:09 pm

Hey everyone. First time boat owner here. Bought a 20' 2006 Sun Tracker Party Barge a couple of weeks ago. Been doing a lot of reading, trying to get learned up on the ins and outs of being a boat owner. We've always had friends with boats and were usually able to go to the lake almost every weekend but we got tired of depending on other people. Hard to think about going to the lake when it just snowed 10+ inches here today but I'm getting the fever :givebeer

Welcome....!

I'm new here too, and the current and past owner of many boats....

my suggestions for you are.... ( I have learned some of these the hard way)

Please do a thorough check on your trailer bearings and tires.
Make sure you have a lug wrench that will fit the trailer wheels.
get a spare. (looks like you may have that)
get a jack that will work. (and maybe a couple of 2x6 or 2x8 to put that jack on)
get a tune up and change the foot grease and water pump impeller.
get a battery charger.

all of that aside.....you'll have piece of mind when you go to the water.

Good luck, be safe, have fun.....and remember....
a boat is just a hole in the water where you pour money. :biggrin2
