two pontoon or three whats the pro's and cons

#1 Post by moke » Fri May 21, 2010 6:52 pm

Looking to buy a pontoon boat had an old greggor 1972 22fter with two pontoons.Want to pick up something newer like a jc tritoon or benningtons version. Is it true with a triple pontoon you can run a lessor motor than the same boat with just two pontoons. Thanks new to the forum looking forward to hearing from you guys..

The 3 will give you more capacity and buoyancy. On motor I guess it would work that way but most who get 3 logs get more HP for more performance.

How and where you will use your new boat is the question. Just cruising or fishing, open water, small or large lake, as you know factors in. The triple toon will have more stability with the advantage of a higher HP motor. The third toon will keep you higher out of the water but there will be additional wieght. As far as speed, I would not expect any great increase.
