We just bought a 21' Beachcomber "FISH" with 90 Yahama 4 stroke. We've only had it on the water once Trying to find the time! We live in Longview TX. (East Texas Pineywoods) We will probably use the toon on Lake of the Pines mostly, but also have Caddo, Palestine, Cypress Springs, and a slew of other lakes within an hour drive. I've lurking and learning for the past couple of weeks. Already ordered some 303 cleaner that I heard about here. I haven't seen much about Beachcombers anywhere. Are they out of business or just low profile. The 90 Yamaha pushes us pretty well in my opinion, 27-28 with 3 on board. Don't know anything about the prop other than it is SS. The previous owner had installed 78#24v Min Kota trolling motor, 2 depth finder, front and rear electric anchor winches, onboard battery charger, and lots of other goodies. Just checking in and wanted to say hello.

Any info on Beachcomber? Google search only shows "for sale". Seems to be well built but I really don't have much to compare to. I'll post pics when I get home early enough to take some.

Randy.... welcome to the forum... looks like we're practically neighbors... we live in Shreveport and have been to Longview many times... we toon on Caddo Lake all the time. Normally put in at Mooringsport La. ( just north of shreveport ) and often wander over into east texas to uncertain / karnack.... we'll have to meet up sometime.... again, welcome to the group!

Welcom to the forum. I have never heard of a beachcomber?? But the most important item is the engine anyway. Seems with a 90 Yammy 4 stroke you are plenty good in that department.

I would get underneath her and check to make sure all looks well. The good news with a toon is there is not a heck of alot to go wrong. If it floats and the engine runs your way ahead of the game. However there are plenty of upgrades you can do as well

How much history do you have on the boat? You definitely want to make sure the battery is somewhat new. If you are not sure you may want to replace it just to have a reference point and peace of mind. I am assuming you have had the engine checked by a local tech.

Welcome to the forum. My son is in his third year attending Texas Baptist College in Longview. It looked like a beautiful area down there. He really enjoys it but sure miisses the lake. He works 40 hrs. and attends full time so trere isn't much free time. Anyway glad to have you. Pics please.

Thanks for the welcome all. Been real busy with work and deer season going on. My wife and I made our first SOLO run on the toon today. She backed the trailer like a pro and I loaded it the first try! Haven't taken any pics other than crappy cell pic but I'll try to post it. Have quite a bit of history on the boat. I know the origional owner and looked it over pretty good. It does have a wood deck but everything seems solid. I read that at one time all Beachcombers were all aluminum, but not ours. The motor runs real smooth. With just the 2 of us we were getting 28-30 mph on the speedometer at 6000 rpm's WOT. Plenty fast for us. It has 3 new batteries (2 are deep cell for the trolling motor. 71# Min Kota) It was either covered or parked in covered shed the whole time he had it. Looking forward to getting into the crappy soon! I'll try to post a pic.

Good looking boat. I personally would be a little concerned with a single axle trailer. Toon weight adds up quik. Enjoy!

I have the same concern about the trailer. My brother in law builds trailers so some modification may be in the works. Most of our trailering will be 30-60 miles, so no long distance.

Nothing wrong with a single axle trailer, mines a 2005 and have had 0 problems with it. Most of my trips are a minimum of 250 miles one way. Just make sure your maintenance is kept up and do a pre trip inspection before you leave on a long trip. Make sure your axle and tires are rated for the load you are pulling.
