Hi everybody, I came to this forum because I plan on doing some extensive work on the pontoon boat my father bought back in the mid 90's. It is a 24 ft pontoon with 22 inch pontoons. Below are pictures;

I posted pictures of the transom because my first project is to upgrade the motor from 40hp to maybe 150hp. The boat is a big hit among family and friends for swimming but I need more HP for water skiing. Feel free to post thoughts...

Before you go to the trouble of beefing up the transom for a much bigger motor, you might want to make sure the boat is rated for that horsepower. If not, there could be insurance issues as well as others. There have been threads before on this so you might want to do a search to see what other folks had to say.

Thanks for the welcomes!

bassn386, the transom is rated for 115hp, but it is hard for me to believe that a boat of this size can not handle a 150hp motor. I will check with my insurance company and do a search.

Silly New Yorker!

You're supposed to have the water UNDER your boat, not frozen, and on TOP of it!

(Yeah, like mine hasn't been covered with snow for months!)

Welcome!
