Hi all, looking to move away from our performance cuddy and into a LARGE toon. Have an appointment to look at a 1993 31' playcraft with sundeck and a volvo penta 5.0 and duo prop. Owner says it hasnt run in around 2 years but ive got my fogging oil, tool kit, portable fuel tank, and a fresh charged cranking battery. It was winterized and in good mechanical condition by a reputable local marina and stored on there lot ever since. He says there's a 18"x18" soft spot in the floor and the carpets seen better days but the upholstery is in ok shape.
Going from mercruiser (alpha 1's and bravo 1's) to volvo should mean I'll know what to look for, but being new to toons is there anything specific to look for structure wise thats a bigger deal than flooring and carpet? There's the obvious stuff like rust or corrosion but I mean certain fasteners in certain places etc? I have a slip in town and plan to patch the soft spot to hold us over (assuming its the only spot) and over haul the floor system over the fall/winter months with marine ply and vinyl flooring. All of this depends on if the good ol gm 305 will fire, ive had enough issues with my mercruisers (over 500hp) that Im not going to get into a mechanical basket case, but the price is right for my area as long as I dont find any gremlins tomorrow.
Any and all input is appreciated
edit: lookie what I found this is the exact toon
