Pontoon Boat & Deck Boat Forum

Hi - looking forward to learning about pontoons. We just bought a sun tracker party barge tritoon and have had it out a few times. Love the boat, really needed for getting the kids away from ipads, playstations, etc. When we go out and I see the smiles on their faces and how much we enjoy our time together - it's totally worth it!

So we are interested in camping on the boat - not necessarily in the water but at a campground. I would like to have the lights and stereo on the boat turned on while we are at the campground and either have the battery being charged at the same time or just use the 30 amp service that they have at the campground to power the boat radio and lights. Does anyone have any suggestions on how/what I need to do?

I see no reason not to have an on-board two or three bank battery charger plugged in as you used the equipment you are talking about.

Welcome! We don't seem to have any problem running the stereo and lights all night on ours, and we sleep on it every night we're out - just finished weekend 19 for the season (and only 3 left). We slip ours at Blue Mesa near Gunnison.

A few tips: Stay away from Chatfield. Try Pueblo and Horsetooth. Dillon is OK, but overrun with sailboat snobs. Granby can be really windy (same for 11 mile). Blue Mesa is 16 miles of bliss.

seems to me though.... if you want to hear your stereo from your boat to campsite, you'd better be trailered/docked/beached really close to your campsite. Or, way out, remote site, or some pretty understanding campers... blaring stereo too loud may result in some pissed off people retaliation.

but, running stereo while batteries are on charger probably wouldn't hurt a thing.... i guess.....
