washdown system?

#1 Post by bsmith77327 » Thu Sep 03, 2015 12:49 pm

I have ordered a 94639 pump from harbor freight, what hose is used on most units? I have
seen 3/8 coiled hose for marine use. I tried a regular garden hose and it would not pick up.
Any advice?.

I have the same pump and you have to prime it with a couple of ounces of water before it will work.

On the suction side be sure to use a rigid hose as soft garden hose will collapse in use; I'd use 1/2" 5/8" or even 3/4" on the discharge side a 3/8" coiled hose would work fine. You need to be sure you hook the suction and discharge up to the correct side of the pump and don't be surprised if you need to wet the impeller first to get suction going. I'd install a check or foot valve on the suction to keep the pump primed at all times.
