I'm new to posting - so please forgive if not perfect.

The power steering on my 2016 Avalon Catalina sporadically just stops working. When it works - I can hear the servo motor and you can turn with 1 finger. However, 30% of the time it just doesn't work (i.e. I don't hear the servo motor making a 'whizzing' sound) and acts and feels like good ol' manual steering. Also - when it's not working it's from when I start the boat and until I turn it off. Then, the next time I start the boat it could be working.

I've taken it to dealer but it hasn't acted up while they have it. Trying to get ahead of this problem.

Anyone else have this issue? Thoughts?

I assume you're talking about SeaStar hydraulic steering with the Power Steering Assist?

Your dealer's just going to have to stick with your boat until it malfunctions.

Have you talked to SeaStar? Surely they have a customer service hot line.

Thanks - boat is at lake and I'll check if it's SeaStar in day or two when I'm up there. Paperwork I have on hand just says 'power assisted steering'
