Howdy ya'll
Another complete newbie introduction here. Name's Dorian. Wife and I live in Oklahoma...have a lake place on Lake Athens in East Texas. Nice weekend place...quiet cove...decent boat dock...BUT NO BOAT! Not that it would matter much right now since the lake is so low. We plan to build our retirement home there in 5 or 10 years.
Been lurking and learning here and on the PDB forum for 2 - 3 months now. Ya'll have been a great help in our shopping. Hopefully we'll be ready to pull the trigger on our perfect toon this fall. Got a demo ride when we were on vacation at Lake George in Indiana a few weeks ago on a new JC Tritoon 246 with a Honda 225...really sweet! May have spoiled my wife on anything else. She can't swim so the stable smooth ride of a heavy boat made her feel more comfortable I think. We've also looked at Aqua Patio and Crest a little.
I have to attribute the 3LogKnight handle to you guys. When I first started reading the forum and saw you talking about two logs and three logs, and being a child of the 60's and liking Three Dog Night, 3LogKnight just popped into my head. Wonder what it'd look like lettered on a toon?
Anyway, thanks for sharing all the knowledge and opinions...back to lurkerville for now.

Toontroller,
We generally take I35 through Dallas, then out 175 to Athens. As long as we time it to miss rush hour in Dallas, we can make it in 4 1/2 hours; otherwise it's more like 6. Wish it were closer but, once we get there, it's worth it.

Thanks Mike, for the welcome and for putting this site together.
Guess your lakes in Idaho aren't low, eh? If not, you're lucky! Our little lake normally only fluctuates by ±2 feet. It's 3.25 feet low right now. That doesn't sound like much compared to the guys posting about Lake Conroe or Lake Travis and their -20 feet, but Lake Athens is only about 1600 to 1800 acres, depending on which reference you use. We haven't even seen it full since we bought it. Come on rainy season...

Welcome to the forum. I know that area fairly well. In fact, I just got back from visiting family at Mabank on Cedar Creek Lake. They have this really nice high dollar performance boat, and they can't even lower it into the water, because there isn't enough there.
