Ain't Nobody Got Time for That Toon

#1 Post by Kilo Bravo » Sun Jun 08, 2014 5:41 pm

Longtime lurker first time poster.
Hey everyone, we're near Wilson Lake and Lake Guntersville on the Tennessee River system in north Alabama. Got out of boating and sold off the SeaDoo's about 10 years ago when I got into dual sport motorcycles and then sports touring, now was looking to ease back in to it with a toon.
Found a original owner 1992 JC Mfg 226 that was a decent price, resisted it for over a month.
In the mean time did a lot of reading on this models before making an offer and it seems like besides lifting strakes, not much has changed where the metal hits the water. :biggrin2

Now this has me stumped, it's like a lacquer that was sprayed on, what is this...and more to the point how to rid the earth of it. :donno

Over all the toon seems to be in good shape, upholstery is about 2 years old with no wear, engine starts and runs strong, power steering is good, trailer bearings seem tight and well greased, happy with the buy and looking forward to some time on the lake and some sage advice from the members here.

Thanks for the welcome, it's a 4.3L GM carbureted.

As far as trying, pressure washer, vinegar, baking soda, aluminum wheel cleaner, simple green, fine steel wool, medium buffing compound on a wool orbital, elbow grease and harsh language. :censored

It has runs in it visible in the pic, it was "applied" on the lower portion on the outside and only a little ways on the inside of the pontoon.

Open for any ideas.

Welcome aboard, happy to have you join in with us. That is a strange looking coating, no idea what it may be. If harsh language doesn't phase it, I don't know where to go from there. :donno
