Hi all
My wife has just "inherited" a 2004 Bennington tritoon (currently in Kansas City). We live on Galveston Bay and intend on using it down here. What modificatrions should we consider before putting it in a marine environment??
Thanks

Oh and Bennington is a sweet ride. How is it powered?

You want to paint the logs up to a few inches above the waterline with anti-fouling paint if you are leaving it in a slip. If you are trailering, always flush the engine with fresh water and hose the boat and trailer down every trip after use in salty water. Keep an eye on your anodes and replace them when they are 75 percent depleted.

Thanks for the quick reply. Our Bennie comes with a 150Hp Mercury Optimax.
We intend to keep it in a sling slip down here so it won't stay in the salt all the time. I have heard of people painting the pontoons with anti-foul paint but understand that's unusual. I am not sure that it has cathodic protection but I assume that can be added fairly reasonably. I'll post pics as soon as we get it. We are looking forward to having breakfast on Galveston Bay!

If it's in a sling you'll be fine and shouldn't need anti-fouling paint. I'd hose everything down after every use though. Get a set of outboard muffs and flush the motor after every trip too.

Ok We got the new boat to Houston over Easter weekend. We averaged ALMOST 8 mpg!
I don't think I'll be hauling it around very much!!
I think that the truck/trailer combination was a bit over 60ft!!
We plan on putting it in the water this weekend. Should be exciting!!
