Back to the boating world?

#1 Post by BiXLL » Wed Jul 13, 2011 8:08 pm

I was a member of Pontoon and Deckboat a few years back. I was very close to 6X6 back then. Many of you may remember me by the Catamaran Cruiser Partycat I bought only to have a boat dock come apart in a storm and sink it after 1 ride on it. I ended up with a HarrisKyote Deckboat after that, but in order to buy the house my wife and I wanted had to sell it.

We are back financially sound and are thinking of getting a pontoon again. I have been out of the game for at least 5 years and appreciate any and all advice that I either never knew or have forgotten.

For my first question, I have found a boat that I think would fit my wife and I very well, but am not familiar with the quality/known problems of the brand. I am also thinking it may be a bit overpriced, but am not sure. Please give me any comments you may have so far this boat.

I was also pretty good friends with a guy, I think from Florida, maybe Louisiana??? He was a cop that had an Oddessy (spelling?) with a inboard Merc in it. I love his margaritas also. I can't remember his screen name. Anybody know who I am talking about and if he is still around?

Welcome! It seems a little bit pricey, but then again it has an almost new motor.

Just as a comparison point...This one is a foot smaller and less HP, but you can get a brand new SunTracker for the same price. http://www.suntrackerboats.com/boat/?boat=3345

Welcome back to pontooning. I think the boat you are looking at is overpriced even with a new motor.

That's a 10+ year old boat with a fairly new motor. I'm thinking you could buy new for not much more money.

I just found out its sold. I liked the double bimini, rear sundeck/change room, and the fact that it had a couple captains chairs on the one side over the double couches. Oh well, the search continues!
