prop question
New toon owner 2010 22 ft ofsprey pro manitou fish/cruise w/2010 evinrude 90 etec , quick question i have the factory prop , what would be a good prop to replace factory one with or is the factory one fine. thanks
Re: prop question
Congratulations on your new toon. How's the current prop actually working out for you? Are you able to reach the motors max. recommended RPM's? Are your boating waters free of navigational hazards? If they are you may gain just a bit by switching to a SS prop, but in reality I've never has issues with using the plain old aluminum props myself. Please give us a little more info to base a recommendation on if you can. And post some pictures of your toon for we all love to view photo's here.

Re: prop question
OK, I'm going to hijack this stale thread.
I'm a soon to be new Suntracker Party Barge 20 owner (we will order this week). We'll most likely be getting the Merc 90EFI. DW is having a fantasy about water skiing again (not me after two shoulder and one elbow surgerys).
I've never owned a boat and I'd like to know how prop pitch changes the preformance. How do you determine which pitch is best?
Thanks,
Plankton

Re: prop question
1st of all you want a prop that when running at wide open throttle you will be at the max. reccomended rpm's for your outboard. Rule of thumb is for every degree change in pitch you will lose 200 rpm's but this can vary with different brands and different materials.
BTW, with a 20' and 90 hp it should run in the mid 20's and unless really loaded down will pull a skier fine.
