Hi my name is Alan! I am 21 years old and I live here in Safford, az. And I just inherited my grandparents pontoon boat! Its a 1997 20' crestliner. It runs great but it has lots of sun damage! It needs new carpet, new wood deck, upholstery on the seat, and other cosmetic things (steering wheel, prop, stereo, a wax job, etc.) So I'm looking for some advice for doing the rebuild/upgrade. What should I change? Where can I get a great stereo on a budget? And I'd like to get a full shade top because the one that's on it only covers the back seats. So please post up some ideas and places to purchase stuff. Thanks.

Alan,
Welcome to this forum. You have a lot of work to do in re-building that pontoon. I suggest that you go into this forum and follow up on all tthe pontoons that are being rebuilt. Post some pictures of before and after when you get them.

Welcome, Does seem like you got your work cut out for you. Think first you need to decide if the boat length, hp an speed is exactly what you want, before rehabing the boat. West marine, overton and pontoon stuff are good places to start looking, but there are a lot more. Just do a google search like pontoon carpet or pontoon seats. The full cover tops are generally two biminis that zip together. Maybe able to have a zipper sewn into your existing one if it doesn't have one. Good Luck on your project, think I would leave the stereo to last.

Well my Grama has re-upolstered the seats before so she's gonna help me do that part! The boat is sound and the wood is roten but we had it on the lake today and it was great! I could take it boating/fishing right now with no problems. But I want to fix it up the be presto!

My grandparents bought this boat brand new in 98. There are a lot of family memories made in this boat so there is no question of wether or not we want this boat to be fixed. O and it has a 90hp evinrude motor and it is sound! I mean it hasn't been ran in two years and this morning she started right up and ran all day! It just needs some elbow grease. And a stereo will be one of the first things I get! Because I'm going to do my research and do the remodel all at once!

Sorry about my spelling!!!

That's good she can help with the covering. Try Meguiars paint cleaner on the fence, if that doesn't work well maybe some mild compound.
Had a 90 on the last toon an it did well. The decking is sort of high dollar(marine grade plywood) from what I hear. Alan keep us posted on your process always good to see a toon restored. We have had a good many people here restore toons so there probably isn't a question that some of these people have not encountered at one time or another. Know what you mean out memories, been doing some work on my parents house, and the other day after I cut the grass an trimmed the shrubbery, I was sitting on the bench in the front yard, an was thinking how it looked like it did when I was in high school, an that was a good while back. Good Luck

Welcome, what a great project to preserve your family memories and hopefully pass them on to the next generation some day!

Be sure to take before and after pics and post them up so we can see your progress!
