Re: Hi tooners, Im a newbe tooner 2
Hello fello tooners,
I have recently purchased a used pontoon that must have sat on the water for I dont know how long and now has a big water ring around it.
I purchased and used toonbrite yesterday and must not have used it right and turned it white, thats when I went searching the web and found you and learned that this will happen. It didnt take off the thicker ring where lime had built up. I did just talk to a man from toonbrite and he said I should dilute it more and keep using it till it comes off. Then I should follow up with a wax or lacquer to get the shine back then to make sure and clean if off after every use and it will stay nice and shiny looking
Any other information and suggestion on how to easily clean it and get it nice and shiny would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks and glad u meet u all, Lisa

Re: Hi tooners, Im a newbe tooner 2
Welcome
some things to use are
sos/ brillo............if you don't need that coarse use the scrubbing pads from groc store........varying degrees of roughness
ac coil cleaner.............spray it on........never used it but heard it works good.
wet dry sand paper 400 to 1000 grit
sharkhide polish.....works real good.
Things like the ac coil cleaner an muratic acid will leave the gray look you talked about, think I would just try to sos pads from where you are now. They are cheap an you can get a fair shine from them. I have used 0000 steel wool a dishwashing liquid making a finer pad an gets a better shine. There also alum polishes at autozone an such.
These are not necessarily in order but some thing to try.
doc........................forgot to say you can do a search here an find some links on it....................

Do not use coil cleaner, it's made to put little pits in the metal to increase the surface area of the metal so you get more cooling.
Use the sandpaper first and go up to the highest grit you can get then start polishing with buffing media and finish it with Shark Hide to keep it clean

Thanks for all the advise, & just to let u know I just used the starbrite on my toon seats which were pretty moldy. I tried other cleaners but didnt work and the starbrite got about 95% of my stains off, yeah!! Had yellow spots that it didnt work so well on but was in hidden spots under the seats so long as u cant c them guess its ok with me

Awesome cleaner is pretty good for getting tuff stuff out.........available at most dollar stores........guess that is why it is a buck.
Herb the sandpaper was to sand out the pits caused by the coil cleaner............No I didn't know that about creating pits.
Might want to put some 303 on the seats after that kind of cleaning, the harsh stuff works but has a tendency to dry out vinyl and eventually make them crack.....

Yea that's what the cleaner was made to do, with A/C coils it's a good ideal as you have more surface area to aid cooling.
Body shops have an aluminum cleaner that works, it etches too so the paint will stick
