I am new to the pontoon world and have recently purchased a 2005 Suntracker Regency XP3 25 I/O (4.3 Alpha One 190 horse). I have called the dealer and searched the internet but can't seem to find out what to expect out of it as far as "Top End Speed" goes. First off the Tach is broken. I have one in the mail from Suntracker as we speak. I know that the WOT should be 4400-4800. The dealer said that the boat came with a 15 1/4 X15 prop on it (that is what was on it when I bought it). The prop that came with it was a little dinged up, So I took it to the prop shop. He let me test a SS 15x 17. So here is my question. The best I have been able to get from it is 28 MPH GPS. The boat seems to get out of the hole great, but when I want to max it out is seems to slip out (loose speed at higher RPMS). It does have strakes. If anyone out there has the same boat I would appreciate some info on the performance of yours. Thanks.

Wel I dont have the same boat but alot alike. I have a 04 suntracker 22ft xp3 with strakes I have a 115 merc on the back and gps best speed is 30. I feel mine is a little slow and i need to jump up a size on my prop from 15 to 16 or 17 so i can use my whole power band verses hitting the rev limiter. As for you boat you need to get a good working tach to see where your rpms are. If you have a good hard takeoff (put you in your seat) the you are probly under proped. and running out of rpms. For every pitch is roughly 200-250 rpm gain or loss. You want to have a prop that will put you right at you max rpm at full throttle. The prop that cam on mine was a 13 pitch and was way off for my setup. I would suspect you may have the same problem. Let me know what you come up with.

Would think you have another 5 to 7 mph with the 190 an strakes. Not that familiar with the IO's as far as props go. Think it would be best to get the tach installed an use that plus gps to determine best prop.
