When the water's warm enough I scrub the bottom by hand every few weeks...it's easy since my logs have antifouling paint on them, so nothing really sticks. If you have heavy aquatic growth, I'd recommend antifouling paint. My boat is in the water April-November and after taking it out of the water for the winter a pressure wash and repaint/touch up in the spring. Do not use any paint containing copper an aluminum...if will cause severe corrosion issues. Make sure the paint you get is aluminum safe (I use Interlux Trilux 33). Above the waterline you can clean with Sharkhide Cleaner, polish and apply a protective coat of Sharkhide.

Try some sos or brillo. Should bring back the alum look.Actually got a little shine from it. If you don't need anything that coarse. Get some 3 or 4 ought steel wool an a little dawn dishwashing liquid.
