Any advice on using the bathroom on a pontoon? I have a boat with the pull down changing room but wow, it pulls down from the bimini top right smack dab in the middle of the boat. Who would want to use a chemical toilet in there?

Any suggestions? :scared

Get yourself a Port-a-potty
Port-a-potties require no plumbing; they may or may not have a reservoir for flush water. Bowl contents drain by gravity into a removable tank which is carried off the boat and dumped, although some larger models can be fitted for pump-out. Typically they hold between two and five gallons. An upgraded version is the SeaLand "Marine Traveler," which is a toilet bowl atop its own 9-gallon tank which is fitted for pump-out, and uses pressurized water from the onboard system, but very little of it. Port-a-potties are automatically CG Certified Type III MSDs.

Also if you use the right deodorant (and the cheap stuff at Wally World ain't it either don't ask how we know) you'll have no real odors except your own when in actual use. As far as the sound of your tinkling reverberating around the boat, your on your own on that. :lol3

Mike - How expensive was your portable one? We need something like this on our boat!

Lulu get the tallest model you can. Some are not very high. Should be able to pick up one for 100-125.

We've got a pumpout head on our toon. Might just be the best option we put on our boat. Wife said hell no to a standard porti-potti and I'm glad she stood firm on that one. First option is always the bathroom at the marina or the well established prop check routines, but when the water is in the 40s or 50s or we trolling while fishing using the on-board head is the only option.

They do have battery powered ones, that don't require hand pumping. Heard several people saying they work pretty well. My concern would be corrosion, not sure if they can be manually pumped or not. Don't use mine often, though they are invaluable when ya got go.

i find that using a small camping toilet seat that folds up small and stores easy is the best way to go. you use these chem toilets you have to dump them, clean them and handle everybodies mess ! my way- you gotta take a squirt, you put a small bucket under it and then dump it over and rinse it out. need to crap, you put a bag in the bucket you tie it and then put it in the trash. its just that simple and you keep your hands clean!!
