And so our new adventure begins...

#1 Post by MichaelB » Mon Oct 18, 2010 1:49 pm

Hi all...My name's Michael and I'm the new owner of a pontoon boat. (this is where the crowd in unison says "Hi Michael"!)

My wife, three kids and I rented a pontoon one weekend and had a blast. Against my normal conservative judgment, I went out and bought a used pontoon. I had "lurked" on this forum and a couple of others, so I had a good idea of what I wanted. With 5 in my family, and then my extended family, and then friends....we needed something that could hold 10 or so.

Which brings me to our boat, now named "Making Memories".

She's a 1984 Riveria Cruiser, rebuilt and had a couple of mods made so that it can support a 1993 Evinrude 150hp outboard. Yes, that's a bit bigger than what she came with originally, and yes, I'm aware of the dangers. But guess what - it doesn't matter since so far that *!?#@ of a motor doesn't run worth crap! It's been to the shop a couple of times and hopefully will be out before winter arrives. It had set for a while, so the new carb kits helped. It needs a link and sync still - she acts like the timing is off. No worries, each of my adventures start out this way!

Welcome to the group. That 28' can carry a lot of passengers and beer. If you can get that 150 working just right you will have a lot of fun memories in that toon.
