I bought 20' tritoon with a 115 merc and plan to fish some on Lake Norfork, 22k acres+ and up to 200' deep finger lake. I am trying to figure out what to buy for a fishfinder/GPS up to $500. Is this something I should buy on black Friday? Boat Show? Spring sales?or should I look for used from a local fisherman looking to upgrade?
I am a novice fisherman on a lake with lots of stripers, bass, walleye, crappie...
Thanks for your advice.

I’m planning on buying the Lowrance Hook 5. It’s priced in the $299-$399 range. Descent size but doesn’t take up too much room. It has new chirp technology which is supposed to give clearer fish detail and ground detail. It also has built in lakes, but you can also add a usb card with additional lakes and much more detail. I had a Lowrance on my last boat and really liked it, so that’s another reason I’m looking at this one.

Good luck!

I have the Hook 5 and am pleased with it.

Make sure that the one you buy includes the transducer, especially if the price seems to good to be true. Some models of Lowrance are offered with and without the transducer.

I have the Lowrance Elite 5Ti. Paid $599 for it. Well worth it for the touch screen and other options. I bass, crappie, and family fish from my toon.
