One of the main things I would look for is the decibel rating. I know the Hondas are very quiet. I've never heard of Duropower, but its rated fairly close to the Honda.

I drove by Pep Boys and seen they had one on sale for 129.00, I going to have to drop by and see what it is, for that price, it would make a lot of noise I would say.

Yah, seems like for 1000ish watt generators, the $100 range are loud 2 strokes.. $300 range are quiet 4 strokes and $400 range are inverter output 4 strokes (cleaner output waveform)... I am trying to decide if the inverter is really needed for what I am gonna use it for??

We've got a Honda 2000i, and man it's quite. We run a 5000 btu AC unit on the sailboat and alternate the power to a microwave oven, coffee pot, and TV. We moor the toon on the beach, on the islands, use a 100 ft ext. cord and for get about it.

Honda's all seem to be about the same price. Sometimes you can get free shipping and pay no tax over the INTERNET.
Take a look at Kipor generator. they are made in china at a very modern new factory. They are made under Honda patents and Honda parts are exact replacements. The price is almost half that of a Honda. I think I am going to give one a try.

Mike, about a 1000.00 and I purchased it at Northern Tool, approx 2 years ago. Haven't looked at price recently. It draws a lot of interest because it's so quite. The output is stable enough to power a computer with it. Sorry I'm slow in responding.

Well, I bit the bullet and went big...
I bought a Kipor 3500ti for $975 shipped...
Electric Start, 30 amp twist lock connection, 2800 watt continous output, inverter style so it will slow down with less load, very quiet...
Dang, this is exciting... I cant wait to get it delivered!
