We have a slip at Applegate Marina and were there last weekend and was told that the Corp of Engineers has shut down the park and boat ramp at Applegate Cove. They are saying it will only be for a couple of months but no one knows for sure.

The Marina has a boat ramp but parking is limited. I believe there is a ramp on the south side of the lake at Keota and also at Cowlington Point. I don't think there is one at Sallisaw State Park.

We usually are at the Marina on most weekends so I will keep checking and let you all know ifanything changes.

Any new updates for this trip? Are we still launching at Applegate?

There is no registration, basically just show up and go. You will need to make your own arrangements as far as motel room etc. I am sending a facebook address on it. Let me know if works.

Update

The Corp of Engineers Park where the boat ramp is located at Applegate Cove is still closed due to lack of funding. The owners of Applegate Marina are woking with the Corp to lease the Park and boat ramp. They are hoping to have by Memorial Day. There is all kinds of red tape to go thru but they already have most of the required permits because they own the Applegate Marina. Things look good but anything can happen when you are dealing with the government.

The Marina has a ramp but as I said in an earlier post parking is very limited.

Any notion of what the parking situation will be like at sallisaw?

I'm not a stones throw from the river at dyer and I'm contemplating running to sallisaw and only doing the Saturday leg of the run

Two more days! Not sure on parking for sat. Last two years there was room, this year looks like a lot more boats I think between 35-40. Cost for keeping boat overnight at wildcat marina (van buren, AR) is $20. Motel will have a couple of vans $5 a person from marina to holiday inn and you can call Razorback Taxi 479-783-1118. Boats will gather (kerr lake) around 10:00am and lock through around 11:00am.

Hope you guys have a great time this weekend. We are so bummed because we were looking forward to going. But due to issues with my job, we won't be able to make it this year. Hopefully next year will be better and we can join you then.

Take lots of pics so we can see the good times we missed. Remember to take extra throwable boat cushions - they make great blocks for the incoming water balloons that always seem to start flying when the boats get into the locks.
