Havisu and Parker Strip AZ Info.

#1 Post by coherent » Wed Oct 07, 2020 5:27 am

Anyone frequent Havasu or Parker Strip areas and can share the best places to launch, park, hotels, etc? Finally cooling down a bit so those areas are less crowded and bearable temp wise in fall and want to plan a trip in the couple of weeks.

Used to frequent both Havasu and Mohave, but I think that things have likely changed in the last 40 years :biggrin2 Never boated on the river below Parker Dam. We normally camped and launched at Black Meadows when the London Bridge was still a pile of numbered blocks in '69 or '70. By the mid-late '80s we had friends with vacation homes to stay at, but the Havasu City area was becoming a drunken brawl dominated by large offshore boats, might be better now. I really enjoyed running North up the gorge when the water level was up, but it can change in hours.

I always liked Catherine's or Cottonwood up on Mohave. A little further drive, but LOTS of elbow room on the lake and Laughlin is great for hotels, dining and nightlife.
