Fuel hoses are made finally. Hope there's no dust in them.
Finally put power to my new ECU. This is the remote control head that will sit on my dash. I can control a ton of engine parameters from there. After configuring, it will be used as a gauge block.
It reads tons of parameters.
Hmmm. I seem to be showing a few error codes. Maybe it's because I don't have any sensors hooked up yet. Fortunately there is a big CLEAR button included.

Got all EIGHT layers of my throttle body stack bolted on. I said eight (with gaskets). It better not leak
All my fuel hoses, injectors, pump, filter, pressure sensor, pressure gauge and fuel rails installed. Pressure test revealed one small fuel drip. It wasn't even my work that leaked, rather a swivel fitting dripping out the swivel. New hose end and another test and it looks to be holding at a well regulated 45PSIG. Now this may sound easy, but I was doing fuel work with no heat or AC lighting so as to not have an ignition source if I did have a major blowout. This was all done BELOW friggin zero. Hmphh
Digital distributor is phased and locked down. New plugs and hand-built pretty pink plug wires (I'm a big fan of breasts, and causes). After about eight hours of phone calls and research, I came to the realization that my ECU was not going to talk to my Mercruiser CDI like I had thought. Maybe it is because Merc doesn't use a CDI, they use an HEI. Nice of them to put out a description of operation where I can find it. Sooo, cost overrun #27 and I now have a new CDI box and Coil on the way. Again Hmphh.
Hurdle after hurdle. At times there seems to be someone that just keeps putting them up. When (if?) I get to the end, I'm gonna beat the crap outta that guy

Well it runs. Startup was a little shaky. I had to grind for a few seconds, then it ran a little rough, forcing me to blip the throttle to keep it going. Once it warmed up, the ECU switched to 'learning mode' and it steadied out some.
I am trying to not be too concerned, as this system is designed for a great many types of motors. The learning mode (in theory) should improve things as I run it at different RPMs. Beyond that, there are a number of parameters that I can tweak manually, including timing, air-fuel ratio, advance etc... I am hoping to avoid this.
At any rate, can some of you big block gearheads please listen to the audio on this clip and tell me that everything is going to be OK? This is taken after warmup and 'learning' has commenced.
There were no leaks apparent and all codes cleared. So that's a good start I'm thinkin
