We are doing the 21st and the 4th. Sounds good for a meet up. We liked BB beach but still prefer "our" beach better. We have been taking the little grill and cooking up dogs instead of the sandwiches we normally do.

My kids only bought me one side for my bday... :(

Well we got it out again Most of the kids and my daughters best friend and her husband and baby. BUT reverse is acting up. Loading up the last time out it started chattering when I put it into reverse. There wasn't the usually hookup you like to hear. I tested it on the hose when we got back and it sounded fine. So the minute its backed into the lake it starts to chatter again when put into reverse! Admiral was getting pissed and I said we don't NEED reverse! I got out onto the trailer and in 2 tries of backing and braking and me pushing she slid right off. Forward works fine. We made it work all day without reverse. I didn't want to jack with it on the water so I still need to look at it as I ran out of time before we headed back home on Sunday. Here are some pics though. We ended up beaching for almost 3 hours and for the last hour we had a bald eagle land in a tree 70 yards away. He stayed there the whole time. I was able to get within 30 yards for a great picture!

So what do you guys think? Remember this LU is a used one I bought 3 years ago so one full season as I was out of commission all of last year. I am going to check the linkage first as it may have gotten jacked when we were man handling the motor on Memorial day weekend.

Sorry for the big pics but I wanted higher res for our friend!

Nice eagle shots Craig. Glad you are finally getting some cruises this year.

I'd venture to guess that you are out of adjustment just a hair on your shift cable. Not for sure though. Other possibilities-loose part in control box, or at shift bracket, kinked or binding cable.
I have solved it before by a single turn or two on the shift cable adjuster. Have the admiral move the handle towards reverse to determine which way the cable needs to go to shift. Then turn the barrel a hair to make that throw a hair further in that direction.

Thanks Todd I am hoping that is it. :prayer Actually you reminded me., since it acted up on the loading the first trip I looked at it Saturday morning and a bolt had come out of the control bracket making it really lose. I thought fixing that would solve it... We were really tugging on the motor, I just should have unhooked everything.

Well we got back out Saturday! Finally! It was awfully hot so we just went a mile or so to our favorite coved and anchored for 5 hours...

I gave THE FLOATER a good cleaning, she really needed it!

Only issue is my horn stopped working... Haven't even hardly used it.... I need to run a jumper straight from the battery to bypass the switch, but I would hope it isn't the switch.

I went ahead and opened up the lower unit plug to check for metal shavings luckily there weren't any so I will be messing with the linkage next. The LU oil was black as night and not a sign of milkiness!

I will keep you updated.

James sent me a new horn it works fine. Sounds like he may have gotten a bad batch as there are multiple users on his site have had them go out, soon after buying them.

I put up a new post on the success of Labor Day weekend. I will update this post when it deals directly with the rebuild.

I still need to do the seat LED's, windshield, and bimini struts. Hopefully going down next weekend. :donno
