Re: Project Twin
That is a real nice looking boat and the performance is great. My 135 burns the gas just fine though. I wish I owned Exxon

Funny story...I had a "potential buyer" asking me questions about it, and sounding quite concerned he asks:
"How much fuel does that thing use any way?"
I said: A Lot.
He just stands there looking at me and so I said: "Look...you don't go buying a V10 4x4 Ford Excursion because it gets good gas mileage. This things got FIVE HUNDRED HORSEPOWER...if you run it wide open it's going to burn some fuel. If you need a ball park number I'd guess twice as much as if it had 250 horsepower. If you need a more exact number I don't think this boat is for you...I don't know how else to explain it".
I haven't heard back from him

Re: Project Twin
My Dad told me once that if you have to ask how much you can't afford it. That was price but in this case fuel! Duhhhhh!

Re: Project Twin
When gas was under a dollar a gallon no one bothered to ask that question. Wishing for the good old days.

Re: Project Twin
Awesome Ty.. this made my day, I've been wanting to see a on the water shot of this boat since the beginning!
I will say I wish I could have made it work when you offered this boat to me way back when!
If you ever get another twin, I'm all over it!

Thanks Ryan...that's one thing that killed me as this build got closer to the end...knowing that when I sold it I'd never get a chance like this again. I don't do much with chassis any longer, and even if I did the chances of a twin coming up are next to nothing. Then the deal on the matched pair of Mercs literally fell in my lap. But I planned on selling this from day one, and I had to stick to the plan, it's the best decision for the family.

Re: Project Twin
As you might have guessed by the above reply this chapter has come to and end. I sold the Twin and it made it trip to Maryland Saturday to be with it's new owner. My son and I and a few others had it out two Sunday's ago for a "guys day" on the lake and we had a blast. I finally got all the bugs worked out, and it ran great. I had been talking with Bryan deciding which props to try next, was just getting ready to drop a pair of Laser 2s (21P) on it, and I believe I could've seen 63-65 MPH in the right conditions. But as it turns out I had a cash buyer present himself, and I had to let her go. I have a few more projects in the works, but I can honestly say I don't think I will ever miss a boat as much as I miss this beast right now. Going to take a long break from building right now to enjoy what little summer we have left here, tend to my new-born litter of Micro Pigs, and simply live life.
I want to send a HUGE thanks to every one here that helped me out on the many technical difficulties I had along the way. You all made my life much easier when I was frustrated, and I am grateful to be a part of this fantastic community! As I close yet another chapter in my boat building book, I'll leave you with this crappy cell phone video as my buddy tried to capture us taking the boat from a 30MPH cruise to just under 60MPH trimmed out:

Re: Project Twin
Sad to see it go, but happy you were able to sell it if that's what you wanted / needed to do.

Re: Project Twin
Thanks guys.
New owners called me yesterday to tell me how pleased they are with it. It's too big to launch where they normally would have, so they put it in the Chesapeake Bay. He couldn't believe a pontoon could handle rough water so well
Hey BMR...I had always said I'd make it out there some day...I guess I'm there in spirit if nothing else
