I am doing a total rebuild on my 24' Fisher with all new seats from PS.

What is the best way to mount speakers?

How many do I need?

I put 4 6.5's in mine. One rear port corner, one across from helm on port side rear lean back, one each side of the front corner benches.

I have 7 speaker's two 7" fusions in fwd bases, two 7" fusions In aft bases, two kicker box speakers mounted on sun deck and a fusion12" sub on front of console. 2 amps inside the console and a Kenwood marine 555 CD deck...and two 31 series deep cycle batteries dedicated to stereo system only.

Also..I have speakers staggered so they are not across from each other firing at each other.and gives a fuller sound that way

don't know what sound system you are planning on using. but stay away from pyle's system it is crap. the kid's bought me a complete system for Christmas last year. the usb port has never worked, the sd card makes a weird noise but works, the receiver is weak as hell. first trip out amp. lost the first channel, now the speakers are going out one by one. save your self time and effort and put in better to start with. it was a great thought from the kid's and not their fault. they are upset at the way the pyle system turned out also.

I chose to mount mine higher up on the lounge back seats. Not the PS Stuff seats, but concept could be the same.

Just put in a couple of extra 6.5" speakers on my toon. Went all out and bought a 5" hole saw from home depot so I could do it quickly... I ran the saw in reverse to cut the vinyl/foam before going through the plywood but on one of the holes I went too quickly, the saw caught, and ripped some of the vinyl. Oops. Luckily the speaker covered most of the rip. The other speaker was perfect.

Trying out these speakers. Good price and most of the stuff from monoprice seems alright. I had sonys on before but they wore out after 2 years. We'll see if these last any longer.

A few weeks ago I opted to hang a couple outdoor speakers from the bimini frame. I gotta say I absolutely love them there because they're above everyone's heads and not blocked by feet and coolers. Also, now when at beaches and sandbars the music can be heard easily off the boat without having it obnoxiously loud on the boat. And the mounts swivel too so I can aim them forward or backward.

Outdoor speakers are also designed for wide, open spaces like a backyard, they're waterproof, shock proof and can withstand extreme temperatures. I got a pair of Polk Audio Atrium 4 at Best Buy for $99, regular $199.

Downfalls are they have to be removed to zip the bimini boot on, so I'm still in the R&D stage to make an easily removable bracket (right now just using zip ties). But the bimini can still be opened with the speakers in place.

Just something to consider for some cheap and effective sandbar tunes.

I have a 4 corner fishing layout so I built a pair of carpeted boxes that go on either side of the front gate with a pair of polk 6.5" and it sounds great. I was going to mount them in the seat bases but they really should have some sort of backer on them plus I was worried about damaging the cones if someone slams the seat closed fast.
