24' Fun-Toon that I got almost a year ago is in the photo in the water. It has a Mercury 115 2 stroke. I just picked up the 24' boat on the trailer to use as a doner for a 3rd toon. I'm planning to use the hard top along with the hard top that I already have to also have a roof over the front half of the boat.

I would like some opinions on center toon placement. The boat currently rides pretty low in the back but that will change some once I add the front hard top and front seats. Should the center toon be even with the outer toons or should I let it hang out of the back a little?

mine hangs out back about 1.5 feet (center tube is a 22 foot log, the side tubes are 20 footers). I like the way it adds more buoyancy in the back, but also wonder if I am not compromising performance by forcing the front into the water. I have only ever been on one tritoon (mine) so I cannot really offer an experienced answer for you.

That is a great idea for the top(s), I am excited to see how it turns out.

What kind of speed are you getting out of you 24 footer with the 115hp?

Yes, I wanted to find a longer toon for the center but this package had everything I needed including a trailer. My top speed so far has been 22 mph. I don't have a tachometer yet so I don't know what kind of rpms I'm turning at WOT. I think it's just the factory prop. Hoping to get more speed in the future.

Here's a fuel boat at Smith Mountain Lake that has 2 of the round style hard tops. I'm planning to run a cedar board down each side to tie the two tops together.

I had a center pontoon built for my rebuild and it is shorter and I did drop it back about 18 inches. It has worked out fine for me. The bow does not ride low, in fact I really could have dropped it back farther but didn't see any need at the time. My 135 Honda is a heavy brut but it still improved my top end from about 21 to 32 MPH.

Do you have any photos of how that turned out and how it looks in the water? I checked out your build page but the photos had gone bad.

I really like the way your motor sits back farther. Could you tell a difference in the sound of the motor at the helm after moving the motor back? I would imagine it would make it easier to carry on a conversation.

Sheesh, luke I donno what happened but I will gather up some on the water pics and post them.

This is the style I'm going for eventually only a longer roof and have it so the windows can be open or removed when it's hot

I just measured the donar boat and the toons are only 20 feet long. The seller told me they were 24' so I just assumed that they were.

What if I put the two toons together to make a 26' toon with a fuel cell in the back 6' of the toon?

You talking about cutting and splicing? and end up with one 26 foot log?

Yes, exactly. What do you think about that? As long as it's straight and welded properly it should work well right?
