2015 Mercury Four Stroke 90 HP ECM Question

Does anyone have any experience swapping a 115 HP ECM on the Mercury 4-Stroke, the new ones beginning with Serial No. E2B080985 and up? It appears all that is needed is the 115 ECM and you can make your 75, or 90 into a 115.

Or do you know of a board, forum or online resource where I might find some discussion on this?

Thanks,

Dave

I have read once that yes this can be done.... BUT have you priced an ECM from your model year?

Contact Simon Motorsports in Ca he can burn your ECM with his tune which will get you a full 115/120 HP for about 650.00

$325 for 25 HP for the stock 115 HP Mercury ECM vs. $620 for 30 HP more with the Simon ECM. $13 per HP vs. $26.67 per HP. I think I may do the stock upgrade to a 115 HP vs. 120 HP for about half the price if I can validate my assumptions.

Do you remember where you saw the post that you could do this with the new Mercury Four Strokes?

i am getting ready to send my ecu to simon motorsports
there is someone on one of the walleye fishing boards that did the 115 ecu upgrade just google it
it only applies to the newer merc built engines not the yamaha built powerheads
the 75-90 and 115 engines are the same with the exception of the ecu and the 75 hp engine also has a restrictor that must be
removed from the air intake
i looked last year for new 115 hp ecm and found they were listed as not available, i did find one for a
2012 and it was over $900
where did you find one for $325, i think that you would want one for the same model year as your motor

Thx Crookedlaker.

http://www.marinepartsplus.com/

Make sure you select the correct engine, the serial number at the top is the correct one. The parts are serial number based. It gets you to the correct series of motor.

Pick the one on the top of the list. That is the serial number listed and up. The "and up" is the key. My serial number is 2B168XXX .. where XXX are the last real numbers. It is the top pick on each of the list. If you pick the electrical parts you will see an expanded diagram and a parts list with the three ECMs being one for each HP.

8M0088063 is the part number for the 115 HP ECM.

For some reason they skip over my serial number on both the 90 and 115 hp
you are probably correct that the one you picked out will work.
but i just bit the bullet and sent my ECU to Simon motorsports.
they told me that i would get approx 120 HP
will report back in the spring with the results
That is my Christmas present to myself.

I've resently read that the camshaft is also different too so if the 115 ECM works you may not get the full 115 HP or worse.... My intent is to send my ECM to Simon as he puts a lot of effort into his tweaking and many users see improved gas useage with his burn....

Don't think that Simon custom tunes for your specific engine. He's tuning popular engines with a bunch of potential users.

Once he "perfects" his tuner profile, flashing an ECM just takes a few seconds and $650 is a big price to pay. I once got my diesel ECM flashed for $75--and the guy was making $ at that. Simon's making a small fortune once a tune is "in the can."

Simon's tune on the Verados must really be good, as tunes are more effective on supercharged and turbocharged motors than naturally aspirated motors.

But he's the only tuner I'd deal with on a marine engine.

I contacted him a while back and was at that point told he was working on the tune and once completed they would let me know, and a couple of months later they indeed did just that...

Yes the burn sounds costly but with no other tuner on the dock there is 2 options; do or don't...

I seriously thinking about upgrading my 90 Hp also. Tried calling Simon motorsports several times, I'll wait till after Christmas. I'm hoping they do tunes for a 2015 90 Hp 4 stroke Merc.

I personally think the cost is reasonable, I just tuned my 2015 Duramax using EFI live and an autocal cost was north of $800. I did pick up over a 150 HP :biggrin2

First off they do; our motors are the same year..... I sent them an email asking questions and in a few days they got back to me with the answers. I was told that I would be contacted when the burn was perfected and after a couple of months they indeed did.
