badmoonrising wrote:Congrats ! Take pics of your maiden voyage and abide by the Official BMR christening ceremony.

Requirements:

1. Boat.
2. Captain.
3. First Mate (if ok with topless women, otherwise let her go shopping).
4. Topless women (King Neptune loves topless women).
5. Booze.
6. Your closest friends, preferrably one that can drink and speak at the same time, we'll call him "MC".

Ceremony:
(MC): "We now call on the Captain to Christen the new Vessel"
(Captain): "I name this vessel (name of the boat)"
(1st mate or designated topless woman): "May Neptune Bless her and all who sail with her"
(1st mate or designated topless woman): "May Neptune keep all who sail her safe"
(everyone): "Amen"

Topless women frolic about. Everyone drinks.

(MC): "A Toast to the Captain"
(everyone): "Cheers" (or other toast)
(MC): "A Toast to the (1st mate or designated topless woman) " . Usually, the larger breasted of the bunch.
(everyone): "Cheers!" (or other toast)
(MC): "A Toast to (name of the boat)"

Topless women frolic about. Everyone drinks.

(Captain): "A toast to everyone present! Thank you for coming today and in joining us in this very specially occasion!" Fairwinds to all!
(everyone): "Cheers!" (or other toast).

Topless women frolic about. Everyone continues to drink.

(Captain then takes his boat for a cruise for the first time, it is usually best that the Captain takes her out single handed, or with the topless women).

End of ceremony!

Do this and your vessel shall forever see fair winds and calm seas. :drink4 :thumbsup

Damn Ed, I wish we were closer, I could see us having a hell of a good time!!! LOL

Congrats on the new toon, but please check with your dealer about Beachcomber. They're mfg. facility is about a half mile from our place at Lake Eufaula, Oklahoma, and I'm pretty sure they're out of business. There has not been anyone there or any activity for about 3 months.

Emailed Beachcomber---got reply saying they had cut back on hours, etc thru fall and winter but had a better than expected amount of new orders from the boat shows and were getting ready to fire up again. Hope so. My dealer did say my 2-3 week delivery window had slipped to 4-6 weeks because of the amount of orders.

Really appreciate the heads up. Any info will be appreciated--thanx

Hi gang----FINALLY!. The new toon is safely tucked away in its new home. Won't get it wet till Monday. Ended up getting a LOWE SS204 fish model. Beachcomber bellied up and I had to start all over. Didnt cost me anything but time fortunately.

Had trailer issues. Karavan dual axle with brakes. Rt brake locked up when stopping. Took them 3 tries to fix it---hope all is ok now. FYI--they tried adjusting the brake, raising the hitch height to put more wt on the back axle---no joy. Final solution was to switch the axles and put the braking axle in front, Only one axle has brakes.

As usual I guess i was the first person who ever bought a boat trailer to have this problem---felt like I was talking to Martians trying to resolve the prob----but it drove home ok---about 25 miles.

Pulled it with my '03 Trailblazer--Pulled and stopped ok altho ride was choppy-prob the stiff boat suspension and short wheelbase of the TBlazer. Only issue---temp gauge on the TB jumped up about 3 clicks. Normally runs 1 click left of the 210 degree mark--now about 2 clicks rt of the mark. Outside air temp around 80---so may be a prob this summer in the Texas heat. Did notice when I turned south into a 20 knot wind the temp dropped 2 clicks---kinda interesting. I have a tranny cooler I think on the car so may have to get a larger radiator. Any input on this will be appreciated.

Anyways---I'm excited and thanx again for all the help--I'll post pics as soon as I can.

Congrat on the new toon. I've been pretty happy with my Lowe. It will be 5 years next month (1 more payment)and I've only had a few small issues I've fixed myself. It's never been back to the dealer.

BTW, I have a 90hp 2-stroke and 23" `logs and it runs 23.5 mph per GPS. Your's beening 2' shorter may get into the upper 20's.

You like the two stroke. 150 lbs is a lot for an 18' boat so I think you chose well. Less maintenance also.

Can't comment on the trolling motor.

Post up some pics when you get it.
