We just finished having family we us at the lake and had lots of fun with a simple large round covered 2-person 70" tube from Overton's. I bought one of the blow up blowers but never used it as I filled it with my Shop-Vac quite easily. When it comes to tubes I'd be sure to look for tubes that have as many grab-handles as you can find ours has 6 and it made it easy to use from one rider to 3 on board; the handles also help with climbing on too... Our 18' toon only has a 60 HP so speed was indeed an issue but I was able to pull them around 14 to 15 MPH so it was not all that boring for the kids and adult alike. I built my own tri-pod style tow-bar around 40" tall so we did not have any issues with keeping the rope from catching the water at all and only once or twice did we have the tube try to dive under on take off....
So my advise is to get least a 2-person covered tube with 6 handles even if you don't think you will pull more than one rider as you simply never know....
Anyone with tube recommendations?

Re: Anyone with tube recommendations?
Hello all
New to the pontoon and looking to set up for a tube once water arrives here in central cali.
Heres the question - given equal weight of a single rider (say 80 lbs) would one be better to go with a larger 3 person tube, or a single tube ? I have a chance to get a relatively new GT 3 at a good price. Most of my towing will younger kids.
We're at 60 hp - so I know we wont be breaking speed records - but would the larger surface tube get up on plane a little easier ?
thanks !

A 3 person tube is huge. A two person one would be better for one or two riders. The rider can apply some control to the smaller tubes, not so much on a big 'un.

Re: Anyone with tube recommendations?
Too big of a tube with not enough riders is very hard to "toss" around due to the drag caused by excessive surface area. I have a 4 person Great Big Brawler (Mable) and I really have to use the throttle and go near 25mph to "toss" is around with 2 riders on it, too close to the injury zone in my opinion. 4 adults on the same tube and its easy to toss over the wake at 15-17mph due to the extra mass, infact I have to be careful the tube doesn't pass me with 4 heavy riders as once its over the wake it just keeps swinging!
