Hummingbird helix 5 (DI/SI) Fishfinder

#1 Post by mzodarg » Thu Feb 25, 2016 2:32 am

So I got my Terrova Ipilot installed and needed a fish finder up front.
I ended up purchasing the above. Just curious if anyone else is using this product?

For power, I was thinking about pulling 12 v off of the 24v set up for the trolling motor but after researching I settled for a 12v 10 AMP AGM battery. I used the fishfinder for 4 straight hours last weekend and the AGM battery performed flawless and provided power the entire time. After getting off the water I recharged it with a battery tender Jr. and it took less than an hour.

There is a learning curve for me as my console fish finder is a Lowrance Elite 5 and my previous boat I had a Ray Marine Dragon fly.

Anyway, if anyone else is using this product-please share your thoughts and experiences.

Thanks,
Mike

I have the Helix 7 SI. It's on the console but would like to have a temporary bow mount when needed. Side imaging is amazing. I'm new to it and still learning...
