I've seen a few threads here with people using Rust-Oleum Restore brand paint to cover their wooden decks.
Any yay's or nay's?..Long term reviews? Also, is it necessary to use a primer on the wood prior to using Restore?
I've pulled fences and furniture and taken up 75% of the carpet. Pics to follow of the beginning stages of my pontoon convert to fireboat project.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Rust-oleum Restore product on the deck
The jury's out on that Rustoleum product. There are many negative things said about it online--just for using on a wooden deck on the back of someone's home. And it's also pretty expensive stuff.
I think it'd be better to use one of the heavy vinyl floors put down with the proper mastic and rolled with a 100 lb. flooring roller.

Yeah my neighbors used it on their porch decking and are not happy that it is peeling for one reason or another; and it is indeed expensive too...Bamaman wrote:The jury's out on that Rustoleum product. Re: Rust-oleum Restore product on the deck
Wow.....since I posted this I've been reading literally dozens of bad reviews in addition to the ones here - thanks guys.
I understand the ease and lower cost of installing a vinyl floor, but my volunteer fire department Chief and I are pretty set on using some sort of painted on non-slip surface.
I've read about:
Tuff Coat - a rubberized non-skid coating
Durabak - a truck bed liner type product
Blue Water - a marine non-skid paint
Super Marine Floor Grip II - a non-skid paint
Evercoat 853 Skid-No-More - textured non-skid covering
Pettit EZ Decks - a non-skid deck paint
And there are A LOT more.
Prices are all over the board from about $50 per gallon to over $100 for Durabak.
Looks like I need to do more research, but for durability looks like a bed liner product will be hard to beat.

Another vote against the Rustoleum product. Used it less than two years ago and it is peeling. They need to stick to rust inhibiting coatings.
