Finally got the lift in!

We put our cover on/off when the boat goes in or out. We just got a new vertical lift a couple weeks ago. New boat that was to heavy for our old cantilever lift. Had to have a power winch as well! We are lucky in that we do not have to take the lift and dock out for winter. We are on a empoundment that gets the water level dropped in winter. Bad thing is that we have wild rice and are limited in how much we can clear our shoreline. Looks like a nice lift, have not seen that brand where we are.

Yours looks nice as well! I'm leaning towards covering when rain is on the way, otherwise leave it in covered.

my lift set up is similar and i do not cover my boat
The cover is folded up under my bed
the boat stays pretty clean, i do try to 303 the seats every month or so
I am on a channel that has a good water flow year round so i do not have to move my lifts in the
winter. even my docks stay in year round, at most i get 1" of ice

Those covers are heavy, I doubt I would want to be taking it on and off. Actually I would not ever do that.

Now that I can look at it without standing on my head, I think it's a nice looking setup.

I just got a motored covered lift, I spent big money for one reason, so I don't have to put my boat cover on ever! What a pain that was at midnight when done for the day. I have not seen anyone around here put their boat cover on when they have a covered lift. If set up properly, your boat should tuck up under your cover nice and snug. If your lift reaches its max height and it does not, you may have to adjust your bunks higher if your water level allows it.

If you mean side to side, that is controlled by how the bunks are set. I only have about 3-4 inches of slop side to side. Basically, the boat centers itself and that prevents it from contacting the lift uprights. Front to rear, just get it where you want it and take note of some reference point and either make a mark or commit that location to memory. Based on experience, I recommend a mark!

exactly this. When I get about 1/4 the way in the lift, the boat centers itself and starts riding up the bunks. I then go forward until a certain bracket on the starboard side lines up with the helm!

Putting the cover on is a pain..especially in the pitch black!

I can tuck it up under the canopy pretty tight, the top rails are under the cover.

I've been putting the boat cover on only when I know its supposed to storm, other than that I leave it uncovered. Its so much easier now! Plus I'm not cringing as my boat is moving around in the waves banging against the dock!
