Carpet???

#1 Post by Tums » Mon Aug 15, 2016 7:30 am

Building a enclosed building for the toon so it will not be outdoors except when in use. My beautiful wife wants carpet instead of the sea grass ,vinyl. Should I have any concerns with going with carpet since the boat will be indoors so much?

Some times you have to do the wrong thing for the right reason, Like lying to your wife. come up with as many things that you can for why SHE won't like carpet. It will attract what ever SHE'S afraid of. Tell her bugs living in it are a huge problem, especially where you live. You get the idea, don't give in!

I love my sea grass! Will never have carpet again! Tell her that the heat in the shed, coupled with damp carpeting, creates BLACK MOLD! You'll win!!!

We had carpet last toon it was collet bit always seamed to get mold on it. Mostly the back by the motor and under the rails. What I did was pressure wash the carpet and it looked new. Now I always stored it on the Trailer not in a slip and cleaned it everyone I got off the water. Now my new boat had vinyl is so much easier to clean it up. And it doesn't trap the Sands from the Sandbars. I love the vinyl it does get bit warm but not as bad as i thought it would again it's so nice to clean and looks amazing all the time.

I have to agree with the above, I had a toon with carpet and recently bought a new toon with vinyl. I'll never go back to carpet... Between the mold & dirt that collects, not to mention dog hair, vinyl is the way to go. My family and I also like to jump in the water a lot. Having the water run off the vinyl and quickly drying is soooo much better than a wet carpet. Good luck with your decision.

Polar 2700 CC will hit 50+ @ WOT. Best Money for the memories I have spent so far as my dad took me fishing when I was little and I took him fishing for the last 10 years of his life on it.

Beautiful boat! My profile pic is of the motors on my cousins 25' Seahunt. Someday when I can live closer to open water I may have to get a center console.
That's awesome that you returned the favor to your father... I'm doing the same thing with my 9yr old now.

We purchased our Hurricane Deck boat new and an option was carpeting that snapped in place, and could be removed, leaving a plain fiberglass floor. Well after a couple of times out, we unsnapped the carpeting and put them in large garbage can for storage. They are still in the garbage cans, and we probably should just put the cans at the curb.

Having had both carpet and vinyl/ sea grass, whatever , I can vouch for the majority of responders , CARPET FRIGGIN SUCKS......PERIOD.
Bad move, my brother. Stand firm. Don't buckle. Stand the heat. Take that ass beating. Own the fact that you may not get any for a month or so. Learn how to get comfy on the sofa where you will sleep. But whatever you do, don't put carpet on that boat. .......

Thanks and you are defiantly doing the right thing w 9 yr old. I am in the process of parting ways with the 27cc since no one else in my Family cares to Saltwater fish. The proceeds from it will Pay for the 36x36 building and most of the toon. I live 2 hrs from were the boat was stored in Panama City FL. I decided it was no longer worth $500 a month for storage and insurance. I only went out deep seas fishing 2 times in 18 months after he passed. Decided to get a toon since all my wife and children want to do is ride inland waterways. Sad to say I never experienced a toon until recently and did not know what I was missing.

Thanks everyone,
I did order with Seagrass and the comments here helped that decision.
