I have a used 2001 Bennington that lived on a .it in saltwater. When I got her the steering was tight.
I had 3 options to fix my steering I could see.
1. Pull the cable polish the steering tube hope that fixed the problem
2. Buy a new cable and get a fitting where I could add grease
3. Upgrade to Baystar or Seastar steering.
Having to borrow a trailer to get it out the water I figured my fix needed to last. So I picked baystar
I next had to find a kit there was a range in prices from 545 to 989 online. Some cheap with ray shipping prices. But after a lot of looking I found it very cheap with free ups shipping.
The install took a few hours it's really something you can do. Just check youtube for tons of install videos.
My installer lost time beacuse we had to fight I mean tug of war fight to,pull the old steering cable rod out the engine tube.
And also fight a rusted nut on the cable tube.

And had your boat been properly maintained in the first place there would be little need for the costly hydraulic addition...
