Cost of 100 Hour Service on Outboard...?
What is a fair price to pay for a 100 hour service on a 2016 115HP (Yamaha) ?

The 100 hour maintenance is essentially changing the motor oil and filter, lower unit grease and maybe a fuel filter. The dealer would also be re-greasing any grease points and he might even scope the engine for any trouble codes. You might be looking at $250 or $350. It's just hard to say since there's such a difference between dealership service rates. Just call your dealer and get an estimate.
I do my own yearly maintenance, and it's a one hour job. On my F150, the oil filter's the same as a Ford Focus 2.0 engine--available cheap at any auto parts store.

Bamaman has it about right given my experiences.
At my Marina, that includes them pulling the boat and pressure washing it, then servicing and winterizing it.

Gahh.....I thought work on an inboard was bad at $150/hr. I like OB's since most things are easy to work on and hang off the stern so even if you have to replace a lower unit, other than cost, its there and is the essence of accessibility. I personally can't even think about going back to an IO after that hour quote on an OB.

Thanks for the replies. I looked around and found Yamaha 'trained/authorized' dealers and I got quoted anywhere from $350 to $700...
This 100 hour service is something the dealers have to perform in order to keep the warrantee going.

Hummm...may not be correct. One can service their Yamaha motor but keep receipts on parts bought.

Well, Yamaha requires an authorized dealer to do the 100 hour service, not the first 20 hour service which I did with no problems and, saved the receipts. If I don't go with an "authorized dealer" that will void the warrantee should I need covered repairs in the future.

If you have a problem down the line, Yamaha will not ask for any receipts. And all the dealer wants is the ability to charge a big, fat warranty claim against Yamaha's pocketbook.
I never take any car/truck/boat to any dealership if I'm picking up the tab. And most repairs are documented very well on UTube on just about any common problem.
If any dealer attempted to rip me off for $175 per labor hour, I'd laugh in his face and take my vehicle/boat down to the road to an independent repair shop charging less than half that. I can still get great auto service @ $40 per hour. Dealers are just playing their customers for fools at that point.
When I did my last F150 maintenance this past Spring, I think my oil change, filter and lower unit grease cost $39 and 30 minutes of my time. I'm using Mobil 1 Extended Performance synthetic oil which is far superior to Yamahalube.
