Time for some new vinyl

I've seen some boats using terry cloth like covers to keep them from being hot to sit on. Maybe you could do this as a bandaid if you are worried about the appearance. If someone in your family can sew it should be pretty easy to make some covers for the seats. All you need is the fabric and a little elastic and you can just slip it over to get through until you do the full redo.

If you wanna do your seats right don't do them yourself! My mom has been in the boat/yacht upholstery business for over 30 years and I can tell you it's an art to not make it look like sh!t. On top of that you will be blown away at how much quality marine vinyls and threads will cost you, then if you pay for them and it doesn't look good your gonna kick yourself in the rear. I don't think you could by the material for $500 not including any foam that needs to be replaced, hence the prices your being quoted for partial replacement.
I'm also curious to the longevity of the Pontoon stuff furniture. Being I have grown up around and helped with a lot of upholstery projects I get a pretty good idea of how much stuff costs I don't see how the Pontoon stuff furniture is priced so well. I'm not knocking the quality as I have not seen it in person but if you can get 5-10 years out of that stuff it is a heck of a deal.
We are wanting to do our upholstery as all the seams are tearing out and I'm torn between Mom doing it and just buying it from PS. By the time I get materials and all new foam it's pushing the price of new from PS without have to work mom! I need to send them guys over there a picture of my current furniture (no clue if it's factory) and see if it was from PS cause it looks dang similar to what's online.

Rickpo,
Just MHO and some 20 years doing upholstery work. It can be done will take some time and will make some mistakes but can be done. The quality of the work and the looks will all depend on how while you are at not getting ageravated.
1. If you are going to,do it your self you are going to need a guality sewing machine and I don't mean the home type.
2. Unless you can buy marine vinyl wholesale it will cost between 10-15 $ a yard. On top of that you have to purchase thread a marine thread, then if you want piping (edging) that's an additional cost.
3. If you seats have a wood backing more then likely the wood will need to be replaced also marine grade plywood in my area is $50.00 a sheet.
Normally it would cost about 3000.00 + to completely reupholsterer a complete set of pontoon seats. Depending on how much wood needs to be replaced and if the hinges can be reused or not. Most of the time a shop will just scrap it all and redo everything that's why cost is so high. If its an older boat and looks don't matter a lot to you. I would purchase marine vinyl and do a nice job of wrapping the seats then you don't have any sewing and all you need is a good stapler to attach the vinyl to the base. Make nice folds on the edges and you will be good to go and will only take you a good day to complete.
