IMO the mechanic gave you bad advise. Level with the bottom of the pontoon is where you want to be, or slightly higher.

I would go back to the original engine height, and then try an Enertia 14 pitch prop. It is the standard of the industry for pontoon props--and available in 1 inch pitch increments.

I was tossing the idea of the 14 around, quite a few I talked to said to try a 15 Enertia. It should show up Monday or Tuesday.
Or do you guys think that is too big?

A 15 pitch might be to much pitch especially with multiple people. I have a 22’ Harris Tri-toon with the 150 mercury and it came with the 14 pitch enertia pitch. I see about 37 mph on speedometer 35 on gps at 5800 rpm by myself.

The height of the motor is motor and boat dependant.

My tritoon has 23 outer toons and 27 center. My motor is a G2 Evinrude 150. I'm atleast 1.5 inches above the center toon with the plate. I think I can go up even more. I can turn at any speed and the motor doesn't blow out.

I turn a 15 1/4 by 17 Rebel to 5700 with no problems. The Rebel acts like a 19 pitch though. I tried a 17 Enertia but it turned to many RPMS 6000.

The good thing about the Enertia's is when you go down in pitch the diameter gets bigger which is better.

So... tried the 15x15 Enertia. Feels like a touch too much prop. Feel a bit of a lug at idle. But does pick boat up and wot is 5400. Thinking of trying the 14x14. Thoughts?

Can you move motor up and try the 15 or is it high enough now? Otherwise it sounds like the 14 would bring you closer to the RPM's you want. It's brutal propping some of these things.

I don’t think I could move the motor up as it’s level with the bottom of the centre toon, any higher might be too much out of the water.

Here's your prop.. I'm betting this is a perfect set up, its the same I run on mine, I know boats are a little different, but length and HP the same, and from your previous descriptions, I'd say mount it second or third hole from the top and try this prop, they don't blow out.

Funny. I was looking at your thread. That was one of the reasons I looked heavily into Enertia. I have to call the dealer today and get one on the way. They are worth $1000 up here in Canada.

Call Ken Reeves at "Prop Gods" in south FL, see if he can help you out with the enertia, 1K is a rip off for a prop. Sometimes he has one that has been a test subject and he can give you a break on it.

I've talked to Ken. He could put me on a waiting list for the enertia. But nothing right away.
