LED Light Strip Channel?

#1 Post by mgarvie » Wed Dec 04, 2019 5:47 pm

I need a new way to mount LED light strips on my pontoon. Last season I mounted two strips all the way around my pontoon on a 2" board just under the deck. Worked great until an Asian carp took one side out, then another boat tied to mine and took the other side out. I looked at some aluminum channels with a cover but 52 feet of them was pricey. Anyone else have another affordable way to mount and protect them?

So are they under the rub rail? I installed them on my old boat under the rub rail ( shining down on the logs) and never had an issue. I didn't trust the Chinese" 3M" glue alone to hold them on. I ran a small bead of clear silicone down both sides of the leds.
Mine were protected from the dock etc, however I don't have to deal with flying fish lol.

Mine are just below rub rail shining straight out. They were great! Six rolls of LEDs while landing catfish at night was just what I needed.

Was thinking about recessing them in a 1x2 but need some king of clear cover. Plexiglass?
