Based on online reviews, I purchased an ICOM IC-M93D VHF. The manual says the battery charges in "approximately 3 hours." It also reads: "WARNING! NEVER charge or leave the battery in the battery charger beyond the specified time for charging...Continuing to charge ...may cause a fire, overheating, or the battery may rupture." That got my attention.
I'll plug-in the charger, then attend to other matters. There's no way I will consistently remind myself to remove the unit from the charger at a given time. Is there any VHF that does not have this liability?

Re: VHF question
$10 wall plug timer from home depot or a countdown timer off amazon. Not really anything to do with VHF, the manufacturer just supplies a cheap "dumb" charger that is a straight output with no float or maintain charge.
