Good Morning All,
Any fellow I/O guys in here ? I was looking awhile back for a new tritoon with at least a 300 outboard on there but after the price tags hit me i settled on a 08 premier 235 escapade with a volvo 4.3gxi (225hp) in it with a dps-a out drive duo prop setup with only 50 hours on it and a bunch of audio on it
Now it does cruise ok at 37-38ish but of course would love more speed out of it. Thinking towards the future of maybe a V8 swap. I seen volvo has a 300hp V8. I'd love a Merc since more people ard here work on them but not sure it'd bolt up
Do you think that V8 would push this boat to high 40's ?
Wonder if that outdrive could handle the extra power ?

My guess would be the answer to both of your questions is NO.
Even if I assume the engine would fit, and the outdrive would handle it, you'd be increasing horsepower by 33%, and you'd be asking speed to increase about a third, too. I'm pretty sure that you're not going to get 100% efficiency as it relates to speed. That would be like expecting a boat with a 300 HP motor to go twice as fast as one with 150 HP. Not gonna happen!

I got ya, guess I just need to look into a faster boat when I'm ready instead of trying to make this one faster. One day id love to own one of those 110k jobs with a 400r on the back lol

Nah, I would get twin 300's for redundancy (Since I'm dreaming

)
