Hi all just bought me a 2007 22' Suntracker regency with a 3.0 I/O.
I gps the speed at about 23 mph.
not sure of the 3 blade prop pitch as I have not picked it up yet.
Any thoughts on another prop to get a bit more MPH?

Thx much

Congratulations on the new boat. :nana Your RPM at wide open throttle will tell you if the prop is right or not. I'm not sure of the recommended RPM for your inboard but one of the experts here will probably let you know.

Sweet!
Thats what we have!! :nana

That engine isnt light, but you should be able to beat that speed.
I only GPS'd mine once when a friend had his and with 6 of us on board + full tank, we ran about 23.

The WOT for this engine is 4400-4800 RPM.
It came with a 16x16 -> Sucked... maybe reach 4200
I put on a 16x13 -> Better.... just reach 4400

This year im going for it.. heh
Im gonna put on something like a 14x11 to try and reach 4800. :devillol
We usually have 10+ people on it so im wanting a bit more out of it...

Im sure the toon can reach 25-30 with the correct prop.
Keep in mind, my toon is at almost 5000 ft up here in Colorado and that matters, for sure.. :nana

Have fun with that toon! We love ours!
We're on it about every weekend during the summer!! :nana :nana

i had an 05 version of that toon. max speed alone at basically max rpm for me was 24-25 gps. i don't ever see that boat pushing 30. motor is just too heavy for the power.

Congrats ! You'll love the 3.0, they are pretty much bulletproof and reliable as hell. Maintenance isn't exactly simple due to the tight space, especially the fuel pump filter. The motor's heavy due to a cast iron block, head and manifold. They've been around since the 60s and last much longer than most outboards as long as maintence is strictly followed.

no kidding about the fuel filter. i never could figure how to get it off. i ended up selling the boat so i forgot about it. my kids learned some new and creative words when i had to swap the starter motor out. its like tracker intentionally left sharp edges everywhere.

I had to disassemble the rear seat (everything's riveted together) and reassemble it all with SS bolts. Yeah everything's sharp as hell down there, wtf.

Itll give you guys that...
Its tough to get in there to do anything... even the oil filter is down in there a bit...
Im thinking you'd have to pull the fricken engine to work on anything farther down then half way... :devillol
Hopefully i wont have to do much on it since its so reliable. :devillol
Love the toon though and have a blast on the thing every summer! :nana

I'm dreading the day my starter goes. Luckily in the 10 years since I restored the Starcraft, I only had to do that once.

Well if you know any midgets, lower the little guy down there by his legs, that may work.

i actually had to do my starter twice as the 1st "new" one went bad in about a month. thankfully it was under warranty. best position i found was laying prone (on my belly) with my legs on the dock, my chest on the sharp as hell siding of the engine hatch and my forehead pressing down on the crossmember. this allowed my to take some weight off my chest so it only hurt alot. this freed up both arms to hold the starter with one hand and then blind feed one of the 2 main bolts that have to come in from under the starter. the absolute best was when i dropped one of them into the bilge. good times.
