Beaching Pontoon Ques

#1 Post by yrsfather » Fri Jun 11, 2010 7:28 pm

I have yet to put in a new dock for my boat. In the meantime I've been running it to about two feet from shore , tying it off in the front to a tree and anchoring off the back. When I pull into shore I run up on sand mixed with small (dime-quarter size) rocks. Are these big enough to ruin/puncture the toons? Any other ideas how to "dock" without a dock? Any feedback will be appreciated. TY

Those rocks will not damage your tubes, but long term continuous wave action will cause them to be scuffed up pretty good. Make yourself a mooring anchor/buoy and get a Anchor Buddy Anchor Line. That way you can be off the shore and be able to pull it close in for boarding.

Why don't you have your dock in yet?? What have you been doing? Lets get the dock built and quit screwing around thinking about it. How long have you had your boat?

Just pulling your chain a bit I would anchor and tie the boat a bit off shore as I would not want it grounded on any rocks at all.

mooring buoys might be an option. Been thinking about that myself. Have not priced the lifts but heard they are going for 10k or better here.
just too much wave action on my lot to tie to the dock, even with the large fenders I have.
