No, but sure thinking about it. Have not priced a lift but from what I have heard they are more than I want to spend for what they are.

My PC-32 is moored with 4000# granite block... It's not going anywhere.

However, I was looking at one of them sand screws. I think it would be okay for short term use in light wind conditions. They have them for securing your SCUB gear while you do a shore dive. It screwed in so effortlessly, just for kicks we tried to pull it out, but the three of us couldn't move it, we tried to dig it up then pull it out, still couldn't budge it.

I know what you're thinking... Why not just un-screw it and be gone with gear? There are two of them that lock together.

I may be confused by the difference between mooring and anchoring ! But my 2 cents worth , the first year we had our pontoon we kept it on a very shallow lake in Ohio " Grand Lake St Marys " We used one of those screw type " anchors " and it was much better than a conventional anchor . You just hopped off the pontoon , led it to where you wanted to go , screwed the thing in the ground and you were good to go ! It was a lot easier and much more efficent .We kept the pontoon in a slip at a marina when we were not there { if that is mooring } For shallow sandy or mud bottom lakes , I do not think I would use anything else !

We use them all the time in our lake. Its a muck bottom lake and they work great. We don't actually buy the ones that are marketed for boats. We use the ones that they secure telephone pole guy wires with. There is a large electric supply company close to our lake, so I guess it was just natural for someone to try it, and they work great. We get some pretty good storms that roll through and they hold pretty good. the ones we use are about 48" long or so, and we screw them all the way in, save about 8" to account for changes in the lake bottom topography.

thanks for the thoughts guys :bowdown i am going to try them out this weekend. i thought one at the bow and one at the stern would hold quite well. they dont market them for boats up here either. they use them for holding down grain bins(up here in the great white north).
