advice on a boat repair
over the weekend at the lake i discovered a leak in one of my toons. When i bought the boat it already had the damage on the tip of the toon but i noticed a hiss after i put the boat away before heading home. you can see from pic to the crack. I want to know if i MUST get it welded or can i just seal it up with silicone.

Re: advice on a boat repair
before having it repaired, i would spend a little time on the internet looking for the same boat crunched on the back end. also call the places that sell used pontoon logs. if you can find the exact same log with the nose cone good, your welder could splice in a good nose cone and your troubles would be over. it's unlikely you'll find what you need, but it doesn't cost you anything and you might get lucky. it'd be cheaper than having a welder rebuild the nose cone section. of course, the cheapest is to just weld the crack and leave it bent.
