Wrong order

#1 Post by adhollow46 » Tue Jul 06, 2010 12:49 pm

I ordered a finder for my pontoon and got a box full of Racor S3227 filters.
I called seller to ask about my finder and what to do with filters.
He said if I wanted to return them, he would send me the paperwork to return them. He acted like he did not care what i did. Have not received paperwork yet. He said he would send it out by email. That was last Friday. The value of filters is twice that of finder.
You would think he would jump on it right away.
I'm going to wait a week or two and then sell them, if I did not get the paperwork.
Buy my finder somewhere else.
What do you think?

By "Shipper" I think you mean the Seller, not the transport Carrier (UPS/FedEx/etc).

1) First and foremost, if the Seller indicated they'd reverse the charge to your credit card, track your card until that happens, and for a while after to make sure a follow-on charge doesn't appear. If no refund was promised, contact them again and demand one, and if they balk, dispute and reverse the charge on your card. Regardless, contact the issuing bank of the card and make them aware of the incident and have them note same on your account for reference. You probably should talk to the fraud/loss prevention department, not customer service. They can put a watch flag on your card for activity.

2) This isn't finders keepers. Diligently pursue the return of the wrong product, packed carefully back in the container it came in. Don't let this get twisted into you dealing in stolen goods. The seller may be in a position to ultimately charge you for BOTH the thing you wanted and the product you wrongly received if they don't get the stuff back and still send the correct item out to you. The Seller should issue a pickup order to a carrier to take the item from you and leave you a receipt for same.

3) Keep accurate notes on how this all transpired from start to end until this is resolved.

I would wait a bit longer personally, most likely this guy is a min wage customer support position and simply does not care much about the difference in cost. It will probably come out later and someone will probably hound you about it six months from now as they go over the lost product reports. I would still scream for the item you ordered, then make them issue you a call tag to have UPS pick up the incorrect filters. If they are too lazy to do this, you might end up with a box of filters and a fish finder.
